Q: How does CollegePrep NY help my teen prepare for the SAT or ACT?
A: We use proven techniques to fully prepare students for all sections of the SAT and ACT. After working with over 1,000 students over the past 15 years, we know which techniques work for which students. Private tutoring sessions are completely customized for individual students' strengths and weaknesses.
Q: How long does my teen need to prepare for the SAT or ACT?
A: Each student is different, and sessions are completely customized. Typically students will prepare for 11-12 weeks to be fully prepared for the upcoming SAT or ACT. Some students need more or less time to prepare and a custom plan will be developed as students move through the first few weeks of our program.
Q: What are the changes in the new ACT being rolled out in April 2025?
A: Changes to the ACT are being implemented in April 2025. The Science section will now join the Writing section as optional for students to take.
We STRONGLY recommend students do not take this new version until it becomes mandatory. WHY?Colleges have not indicated that they will accept non-Science section ACT scores and how they will interpret these new composite scores that will put more emphasis on the English, Math and Reading sections. Also, there will be many kinks in the rollout, and we recommend waiting until those are resolved before participating in this new test. If you are taking the new test, we strongly recommend opting in to the optional Science section.
